| Can anyone fill me in on the general do's and don'ts when using CC in builds. I'm guessing you should say if you upload something with it in, and credit those that made it. but are you allowed to upload it at all? I have scoured every forum i can find and haven't found anything. it seems like something every builder should know, which is why I thought i'd ask. Phoe xx PS yes I'm up late again, one of the side effects of parenthood. I miss |

| You are allowed to upload creations to the exchange that use CC, and there are many, many builds up there that have CC. As you said in your post, it would be a good idea to note there is CC in the file, what that CC is, and where you got it from. This is not a requirement, but definitely very helpful for the downloader in determining whether or not they want to download your build. |

| There is also the other angel to this, I think.: Should you give credit to the people who have spent hours on making good CC? This discussion have been going on for as long as I can remember. I especially remember some very heated discussions about "stealing" back in the Sims 2 times .... |

| So far I have not included CC in anything I have put on the exchange, as I did not know that we could, OOPs, I use packages, and knowing who allows what can be a pain to keep track of. The MTS people have their own usage policies, TSR does not allow distribution of FA items, and in fact even only TSRAA items can be used for lots and only at TSR as I remember. Some sites like Parsimonius and Simslulamai state it is OK with credits. Donation items should not be distributed, but I have seen people do it. You need to know where everything came from and what the policies are if you really are to do it correctly. But as we know, not everyone follows that, and that is where the debates get started. |

| What Daisy says is exactly why I don't use 3rd party CC in anything I upload to the exchange. |

| I was just gonna ask a similar question so I thought I'd add to this discussion. First let me say,I'm actually looking to upload to my own blog..not the exchange or TSR, MTS etc. I decided to do this because even though I'll have less downloads, I thought I would also have less problems. Since this site hates that site and that site hates this site and so on. I thought I'd find it less trouble to have my own blog and upload to that. then give credit and links to any CC I use. So anyway, I was wondering if you create a lot and put CC in it ,is that CC automatically uploaded with your lot? In other words will the CC be downloaded with the lot? I always thought people had to go and get the stuff from the creators site and download that with the lot in order for it to show up in the game..Don't know where I got that info from? But is that correct , that if I upload it with the CC it will be be downloaded with the CC already in it? Sorry if it's a dumb question. It's something I've been pondering for a while and I always feel stupid asking, so I don't. But i have a bunch of lots I built but never uploaded because of this question. If I wanted less trouble I would not use CC.LOL But the part I love is the interior decorating really. That's more fun with CC. You can really get a look you're going for with the right ones. I am trying to learn to make my own CC , that way I don't have to worry about policies and such. But as of now I can only do paintings and am learning to do patterns. |

| The generally accepted answer to this is that if the CC on your lot was installed as Sims3Packs, then it will be packaged up and shipped with your lot. Now I have heard tales of exceptions to this, and maybe .package stuff will also go with it if that was installed by some special custom CC managers. But in general it's just Sims3Pack stuff.
I think people expect you to let them know if a lot may have CC in it before they download, and some people hate it. I think including CC just means you can make unique lots with very little inconvenience to the end user. Much better than all that shopping list stuff we used to need. |

| I know the answer as far as it concerns CC & Worlds, and the same solution could most likely works with lots. Since lots are what brings the unwanted CC to worlds. Read this for all the info. Simsample also explains why you don't want to include the CC packaged up with your world or lot. | I do not use CC. The main reasons are I prefer to do the builds I share with no CC and I have a hard time keeping track of what is CC and what is not. I have seen CC I downloaded not be marked as CC. I found it to be a huge pain so finally just stopped using it. I do use some mods. Mostly just the ones from Twallen, one to let me do custom lot sizes in the game and Jynx's RH carpets and doors. |

| For me its easier to not use CC in lots I want to share now, and then in my own game I can do whatever I want with them later adding some of way too many CC items I have. And as I do not care about CC packaging with lots, I clear my dc backup all the time. |

| Thanks everyone for the advice and info. I mostly use package CC. It's just so much easier to install and uninstall. So that'd be great if it didn't package it with the lot. I guess to make sure I could try upload it to mediafire then download it into a clean game as see if any of the package CC comes with it. I try to use CC as little as possible if I want to upload something. For some lots it's okay cause the game provides enough things. Like when I made the western lots for the West World here. Most of the lots I've made were before I got Pets and Supernatural, so there's a lot of new stuff I can use. I 'm gonna go in and see what I CC I can replace with the stuff from the newer Eps. Like I have this Gothic house that is heavy in CC. I figure now I can substitute a lot of the CC in it with some of the Supernatural content. So that'll help. I really wish EA would include more plants and curtains. They have such a little selection of that in the game. |

| I am noticing the same thing, that we now have EA items that are pretty much like some of my CC, so I can get rid of some. I use packages for everything that I can, as so much easier to add and delete things. |

| I should have said this earlier, .package stuff won't transfer, only CC installed via .sims3pack .:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:._.:*~*:. |

Oh it definitely won't transfer then. That's good. I really don't understand why EA can't make it more like Sims 2 with the Downloads folder..Unless it has something to do with being able to download from the store?
