PostSubject: On Foreign Shores (An ISBI Legacy)   Fri Mar 09, 2012 5:09 am

Hi, I'm Sandi Squire.

I heard a story about a new colony that is being set up, a place they are calling Lunar Lakes. So feeling the need to get away and make a fresh start I did the brave thing and applied to travel on the next ship out there.

I saved as much money as I could before the ship left and was lucky enough to be able to buy a place to live when I got there.

It's not much but the view is to die for.

The house (if you can call it that) wiped out most of my money but I was able to buy a decent bed

and with what little was left I got a second hand table, chair and bookcase (the last owner threw in a few books with it as well)

Money, that's what I need now. A way to earn an income. I made some tea while I thought about what I could do (this place definitley needs more lights by the way - I can hardly see what I'm doing.

I really enjoyed cooking that meal, it just seemed so natural. That's it, bingo. This is a new land everybody is going to want feeding and I enjoy cooking. There must be a bar or restaurant here where I can learn the trade. Hey, there's even a book about cooking in that old bookcase.

Tomorrow, it's off to explore and get a job in the catering career. I'll let you know how I get on.

Summary:-
Sandi Squire - Brave, Natural Cook, Animal Lover, Snob, Lucky.

I headed into town and found a place called The Big Bang Bistro. I got chatting to the boss, Theo Cardaman, and told him all about my ambitions to be a celebrated five star chef. He laughed at me and told me I'd have to start at the bottom like everybody else with crazy dreams but if I wanted it he could give me a job as a Kitchen Scullian. Well it wasn't what I'd dreamed of but I guess it was a foot in the door. And it did come with a uniform.

Lovely isn't it? Wait, hang on a minute. Who's that behind me? Mmmm.... wonder if he looks as good from the front?

He was still there when I left work so we got chatting. Damion Su is his name. Works in business and is a Vice President, ambitious and workaholic. We got on really well. He told a great ghost story too.

The next day I had a day off, so as I had learnt all I could from the cookery book at home I headed down to the library. They had the second book in the series so I started reading it.

Who should turn up while I was swating up but the boss himself. We talked for quite a while about all sorts of things and I think we left as friends not just boss and employee.

I headed home.

It really does get dark in this world at night. (Lights, lights I really must get some more lights for the house!)

A second day off and I wandered over to meet the neighbour. Amelia Loveland. Now we really did get on and had a great time. Definitely a new friend.

A party invitation came through from the boss (told you we were friends). But it was for a time when I would be in work. Was this a test? I so wanted to go and meet new people but I had to keep the job. Well, I went to work, and boy was that the right decission. I got a promotion to Spice Runner.

Day 3 at work and I had to break up a fight but it didn't go unnoticed by the boss and I was promoted again, to Veg Slicer. I think he's begining to see how serious I am about making it to the top of this career. He certainly is laughing at me any more.

Summary

Level 3 Culinery Career
Cooking skill - level 4

Got another promotion and I couldn't wait to tell Damion so went round to his house with the news. He was definately pleased for me..

but I found Irene there. It was a bit of a shock, I thought we were really hitting it off, but in fairness he had done nothing to encourage me.

I talked with her for a while and then thought I would try out the new Rainbow Bar that's just been built by Httddy7 Enterprises. Well, the place certainly needed more work but as it is the only one out here it was buzzing. It must have been a ladies night, though, as there were no men to be seen. What a waste of time!

I decided to take a trip to China. I'd heard there was money to be made by bringing back anything from earth. There is a huge market for that kind of thing here. So after some pushing and pulling...

A bit of digging....

And some swimming

I needed a shower

But it was quite a haul and, along with the books I brought back and sold I now have over 24,000 in the bank.

Back to normal life again and I managed to leave to cooker on while I went to work. You would have thought the water from the broken sink might have had a bigger impact. Thank goodness for the local firebrigade (no good getting any ideas there either - the firefighter was female!)

It must have been a day for fire, as I managed to get my apron caught in the oven at work

Promotion and a new uniform though!

Anyway, I'm off to China again now, just hoping it will be as profitable a trip as last time. See you soon.

Oh what a trip! I love China. It's so full of promise and treasures. I bought a tent this time and camped out in the hills. It's so beautiful!

I did more exploring again and gained quite a few relics, and I tried my hand at martial arts and got to the second belt.

But do you know what the best treasure of all China is? No? Zhan Su.

We hit it off straight away

And it wasn't long before we were more than just friends, if you know what I mean

Unfortunately, the holiday had to come to an end, but Zhan promised to come and visit me in Lunar Lakes. And he was as good as his word. Poor thing, I was so excited to see him I had proposed to him before he even got through the front door. lol. Luckily he said yes even if it wasn't the most romantic setting - stray dog and all.

As neither of us have family in Lunar Lakes we opted for a quiet wedding on the shores of the lake. It was beautiful and romantic all in one.

We've spent a lot of time since the wedding talking about our future and what we want to do. Zhan would love to be an astronaut so we've decided to stay in Lunar Lakes as it seems the best place for him to aim for the stars. We need somewhere bigger to live, so we've employed an architect to build us a new home. While that's being built we are going to go on honeymoon to France. Zhan fancied somewhere different and I had a lead from China that was leading me to Fance so it suited us both. All in all I'm a very happy girl at the moment!

Summary:-

Logic - 2
Atheltic - 3
Cooking - 7
Handiness - 4
Martial Arts - 2

Days to aging up - 1
